Introducing the MySQL Guilds

I’ve just added a new section to the MySQL site, the MySQL Guilds. So what are these Guilds?

Well, among all the people in the big MySQL Community, there are some who put in extra time and effort helping their fellow users on forums, or IRC, writing books or articles about MySQL, speaking about MySQL at events, or developing MySQL tools such as phpMyAdmin.
Just a few examples, but I’m sure you get the idea: these people are particularly fantastic, and truly deserve extra public credit!

I’ll be developing the MySQL Guilds section further to include more information about the people, possibly a little profile with a photo, and what they do with MySQL. I have quite a few ideas (and if you have an idea about this, please do let me know!)

The MySQL Guilds bring new possibilities too… say you are an event organizer looking for a good speaker, or a publisher looking for a good author, the MySQL Guilds would be a good place to find the best, right?

You may be wondering “so who selects these people?” Well, it’s simply based on merit. I happen to know about some people already so that’s how the list got started. But I would love to hear from you, and hear whom else you would like to nominate!
Just write me an email (my first name, at mysql.com). Do make sure you you provide the person’s name, where/how I can reach them (if you know), why you feel they should be invited to the MySQL Guilds, and some links showing their activity. Pretty straightforward.
So, I’m not the judge in this, I merely administer. You decide!

Let’s give these people a grand THANK YOU, and also advance thanks to you for helping me build this further!
